QBSW e-learning applications provide various forms of educational models; enable shared usage and improvement of intellectual capital and knowledge. In addition, they improve the whole process of education management in every organization. The education through QBSW e-learning is available in two ways- synchronously and asynchronously.
Many people imagine that e-learning means multimedia educational courses. However, this is only one form of asynchronous e-learning form. E-learning as a whole includes lots of other forms of synchronous and asynchronous education forms.
QBSW asynchronous e-learning
In this type of education we offer forms of e-learning where every student is studying at a different time according to his needs and requirements. Asynchronous indicates that other means of communication are utilized that do not require real time responses.
Advantages of asynchronous e-learning:
- higher student comfort and availability,
- time flexibility,
- enables more detailed studying
- provides time to formulate questions..
Disadvantages of asynchronous e-learning:
- possible risk of misunderstanding or frustration that there is nobody to ask,
- students may lack direct contact with teachers,
- if student is not highly motivated and responsible, an asynchronous e-learning does not bring desired effect...
The forms of QBSW asynchronous e-learning:
- self-study- pre-prepared lessons, documents, presentations etc.
- multimedia upgrade- audio, video...
- discussion forum
- individual communication between teacher and student (for example private forum)
- wiki
- dictionary
- workshops
- electronic portfolio
- under casting- audio recordings, which the computer will automatically move the student through RSS
- games and simulations
- supportive study materials on request (e.g., sales of printed books, CDs, DVDs, educational programs for the PC, etc.)
QBSW synchronous e-learning
Synchronous e-learning is a type of education where all participants receive information at the same time in all forms of e-learning courses. Synchronous means that real-time communication is implemented, such as video conferencing, teleconferencing, and on-line chat programs.
Advantages of synchronous e-learning:
- real-time and immediate feedback,
- possibility to use incentives (emotions, levels of understanding)
- teacher can better manage the whole educational process,
- this type of learning is particularly suitable for students who have difficulty reading or larger materials are less skilled at writing...
Disadvantages of synchronous e-learning:
- requires real-time connecyions of all participants,
- is sensitive for failures and technical problems (connection problems,),
- teacher has to have some back-up plan if there will become one of these situation...
The forms of QBSW synchronous e-learning:
- online chat- enables interaction between students, supports learning process, makes the course more interesting- this results in higher participation and satisfaction of participants,
- webcasting- streaming of audio/video via Internet (one-way streaming)- is used when necessary to reach a larger number of students simultaneously. The possibilities of interactions are deliberately limited. In comparison with the web conference, it reduces hardware and transmission lines demands, so it is possible to reach the participants with the worst connection, respectively, the worst technical equipment.
- audio conference- the classic way of interaction using only audio channel. It is less difficult for implementation and transmision capabilities than video conference what makes it more available e-learning form. It also possible to combine PC access with phone access.
- video conference- includes audio and video transmision. Except for video from web camera, it can also screen sharing (sharing images on the computer screen). It is suitable for a small number of participants.
- web conference- except for video and audio transfer, it also adds elements of interaction - a virtual whiteboard, message of the word, public / private chat and so on. The teacher is usually a moderator who manages the discussions and gives the feedback to students.
- online games and simulations
